Vandachostylis Lou Sneary

A vigorous intergeneric hybrid of Vanda falcata Toyozakura × Rhy. coelestis, producing tall erect racemes with multiple open blooms above a robust fan of long, strap-like leaves and prominent aerial roots. The small, open flowers inherit the bold trilobed lip of Rhynchostylis, creating a striking contrast against the pale, maculed sepals and petals.

  • Light: Bright indirect to partial direct light; 30–50% shade cloth. More light than most orchids — essential for blooming.
  • Temperature: 65–95°F (18–35°C) — Warm grower. Tolerates heat well; protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: 60–80%; mist aerial roots regularly or grow in a humid environment with good air circulation.
  • Watering: Water frequently during active growth, allowing roots to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce in cooler months.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted, in a slatted basket, or in a coarse bark mix to accommodate its extensive aerial root system. Ships bare root and well-established.
