Lepanthes turialvae

A floriferous miniature species from the cloud forests of Central and South America. It grows a single large, smooth cordiform leaf with a prominent midrib, and produces dense pectinate racemes in a zigzag arrangement directly over the leaf surface, bearing successive small flowers with spreading ovate sepals, an iridescent surface, and a prominent bilobed labellum at the center.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 60–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can damage the large, smooth leaf.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C); a Cool grower that thrives in stable, cool conditions with consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 80–95%; maintain high humidity at all times — ideal for cool terrarium setups.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the medium evenly moist; never allow the fine roots to dry out completely between waterings.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss. Its compact size (approx. 6–8 cm), ornamental cordiform leaf and prolific zigzag racemes make it an excellent terrarium subject. Plants are shipped bare root and well-established.
