Maxillaria Cuencanita

A hybrid of Max. leptosepala × Max. molitor, two species from the Andean cloud forests. It produces multiple flowers simultaneously on slender, upright scapes, each with a tall, erect dorsal sepal, strongly recurved lateral sepals, and narrow petals framing a small, dark-spotted lip — a dramatic, star-like display.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); an intermediate-cool grower that benefits from cool nights and stable conditions.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; high humidity supports vigorous growth and prolific blooming.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Ships bare root and well-established — pot promptly upon arrival in fine bark mix and water generously to rehydrate the roots. Best grown in a small pot or mounted on cork bark.
